• Clean your belongings before storing them

Cleaning your belongings will help keep them in good condition for a long time. Remove dust from furniture, treat leather sofas with the right cleaner and treat appliances with the right product to prevent the rust from forming over time. Clothes should also be washed before being stored. However, you must take the time to let everything dry properly before storing it in order to avoid any mold.

• Wrap your furniture

Ideally, you should wrap your furniture with moving blankets as we do when we move your furniture. This not only protects the furniture during transportation to the storage area, but also protects them against dust and dirt during the storage period. If you do not have moving blankets, it is not recommended to use plastic wrap to cover them. Because plastic traps moisture, it can lead to mold growth.

• Organize your furniture in your storage unit

First, start by putting your heavier items such as appliances at the back of your space. Close the doors of your furniture and tape them to prevent breakage. You should also empty them of the items they contain and put them in appropriate boxes or bags. If you have mirrors or glass, it is recommended to always place them vertically against a wall. It is recommended to place your belongings in a compact way so that it is more stable and helps prevent objects from falling. Do not stack your belongings too high so that everything is safe. Finally, don’t forget to leave yourself room to move around in case you need to take an object that is more difficult to access.
